A-ROSA Cruises Room & Dining Options

A-ROSA is a great choice for families trying a river cruise for the first time, and that focus is reflected in their cabin layouts and dining options. Many ships offer family cabins and connecting rooms, making it easier for parents and kids to sail together comfortably. All meals in the complimentary restaurant are served buffet-style, giving everyone plenty of variety and flexibility. And honestly… what’s better than enjoying great food while sailing along the Seine or the Rhine?

Remember, you can always click the Request a Quote button to ask us a question or book your next cruise. Contacting us is completely free, and best of all, you won’t pay a dime more when you book through us. We can help you choose the perfect itinerary, explain the differences between the basic and premium all-inclusive fares, and much more.

A-ROSA divides its staterooms into three main categories: standard cabins, suites, and family cabins. The exact layouts and subcategories can vary slightly from ship to ship, so listing every type across all 15 vessels would be a bit overwhelming. Instead, we’ll give you a clear idea of what to expect from each cabin type, and which kind of traveler they’re best suited for.

Standard Cabins

  • Good for: Travelers who want to keep costs down or plan to spend most of their time outside the cabin.
  • Max Occupancy: 2 or 1-3 guests.
  • Size: Up to 21 square meters (about 226 square feet).

Standard cabins on A-ROSA ships are often more impressive than you'd expect. Most come with a Juliette balcony, while older ships like the A-ROSA Bella offer large windows similar to oceanview staterooms on traditional cruise lines. Inside, you'll find high-quality bed linens, a flat-screen TV, and spacious bathrooms with a shower.

Suites

  • Good for: if you want nothing but luxury; if you love some extra perks.
  • Size: Up to 29 square meters (about 314 square feet)
  • Max Occupancy: 1-3 guests.

Suites are the most spacious and upscale staterooms aboard A-ROSA cruises, offering extra room (bigger bathrooms and a walk-in closet!) and a range of perks that vary slightly depending on the ship. That said, not every vessel in the fleet features suites. When booking a Junior or Balcony Suite in categories E or F on ships like A‑ROSA Silva, A‑ROSA Alea, A‑ROSA Clea, A‑ROSA Flora, or A‑ROSA Sena as part of the Premium All-Inclusive fare, you’ll enjoy a variety of complimentary services, such as:

  • Welcome glass of champagne
  • Suite cocktail with the ship’s management
  • Room service between 7 AM and 10 PM (except on A‑ROSA Alva, A‑ROSA Alea and A‑ROSA Clea)
  • Check-in and personal welcome from as early as 12 noon
  • Laundry and ironing service
  • Fresh fruit every day

Family Cabins

  • Good for: bigger groups travelling together; if you are bringing your kids onboard.
  • Size: Up to 29 square meters (about 314 square feet)
  • Max Occupancy: 2-5 guests.

Family cabins are - you guessed it - larger staterooms that are perfect for friends traveling together or families cruising with kids. While most A-ROSA ships feature some form of family-friendly accommodations, a few of the newer ships were specifically designed with families in mind.

If you're looking for a family cabin, keep an eye out for cruises aboard A-ROSA Aqua, Brava, Viva, Flora, Sena, or Silva. Here's how each ship differs when it comes to family cabins:

  • A-ROSA Aqua, Brava, and Viva: Feature a setup of two cabins with a connecting door.
  • A-ROSA Flora: Offers family cabins with a sofa bed and a fold-out additional bed. It also includes two-bed junior suites and balcony suites with an extra bed.
  • A-ROSA Sena: Has family cabins with a double bunk bed, plus two-bed junior suites and balcony suites with additional bedding.
  • A-ROSA Silva: Includes a setup of two connecting cabins, along with two-bed junior suites and balcony suites that come with an extra bed.

A-ROSA Cruises Dining Options

Food onboard A-ROSA cruises is generally considered quite good, and a step above what you’d find on most mainstream ocean cruise lines. Most A-ROSA ships have just one main restaurant, where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served buffet-style. That’s interesting, considering many other lines, like AmaWaterways, have opted for exclusive table-service dining. The buffet, however, creates a more casual atmosphere and is definitely more convenient (and faster) for families traveling with children.

A‑ROSA’s chefs incorporate local ingredients into the daily menus. Rhine cruises feature German-style buffets with hot dishes, cold cuts, and pastries, while Rhône sailings highlight Provençal cheeses and Côtes du Rhône wines. On the Douro, you’ll find Portuguese classics like bolinhos de bacalhau and enjoy port wine tastings.

Dietary Needs

For all your dietary needs, you can either let Famvia handle it for you or contact the A-ROSA Service Center before your departure at +49 381 2026001 or via email at [email protected] to provide details about any intolerances or dietary requirements. It’s also a good idea to visit reception upon arrival to schedule a meeting with the chef to accommodate your individual needs.

Is A-ROSA All Inclusive?

No, A-ROSA isn’t fully all-inclusive. With the basic fare, only water is included onboard. However, you can upgrade to the Premium All-Inclusive fare, which grants access to a selection of beers, soft drinks, wines, and cocktails. There’s also the Drinks Package Plus option, which expands the list to include premium spirits like whiskey and popular cocktails such as Cuba Libre and Piña Coladas.

Drinks Package Plus

With the Drinks Package Plus, you can enjoy exclusive cocktails, long drinks, and spirits in addition to the premium beverages. This upgrade can be booked up until the first day of your journey and costs €19 per person, per night for Premium All-Inclusive guests, and €39 per person, per night for all other guests.

Room Service

Room service is available only to suite guests, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Do I need to pay for any restaurant onboard A-ROSA Cruises?

There is no charge for dining in the main restaurant, where buffet service is offered for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktail times. Payment is only required for exclusive specialty restaurants, which are available on some of the newer ships like A-ROSA Sena.

Are there specialty restaurants on A-ROSA Cruises?

A-ROSA Cruises Sena Grill.webp

Yes, but they are quite rare. Some of A-ROSA’s newer ships, like the A-ROSA Sena, feature a specialty à la carte restaurant that costs extra. A great example is the A-Sena Grill, a table-service venue perfect for guests who enjoy seafood and a quality steak. Still, the buffet remains by far the most popular dining option across the fleet.

Carry-On Drinks Policy

At departure, guests are generally not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages on board. During the cruise, if you purchase alcohol ashore, you may bring a maximum of 1 liter per person over the age of 18 back on board.

If you bring your own drinks, liqueurs, or bottles of wine to enjoy in your cabin, A-ROSA reserves the right to charge a corkage fee of €20. Consuming your own beverages in public areas is not permitted.
