Welcome to our dedicated guide, where we’ll dive into Azamara’s ships and their most popular destinations. Azamara is all about creating a relaxing, immersive experience at sea, with ships that accommodate around 700 guests and deliver exceptional onboard service. The vessels are nearly identical, with just a few subtle differences between them.
Our main advice? Always take a look at itineraries and pricing first before settling on a specific ship.
That’s also where we come in. At Famvia, we’re here to help you choose the best itineraries, staterooms, and dates for your unforgettable journey with Azamara. Let’s begin by exploring the ships before moving on to the destinations.
Azamara Cruises Ships

Azamara currently has four ships in their fleet:
- Azamara Onward (2021)
- Azamara Journey (2019)
- Azamara Pursuit (2018)
- Azamara Quest (2016)
All of Azamara’s ships are small and designed to accommodate around 700 guests. Just imagine a boutique-style vessel focused on offering a serene, intimate atmosphere rather than the over the top activities you’ll find on mainstream cruise lines.
Azamara embraces a more traditional cruising experience, with a single swimming pool, plenty of elegant bars, and no casinos. That’s right - there’s no gambling on board, unless you count a competitive game of table tennis or a board game. They’ve got those, too.
Azamara’s ships were originally acquired from another cruise line in the early 2000s, but each one has since undergone extensive refurbishments to deliver that signature elegant, boutique feel. Onboard, you’ll find a Main Dining Room, a buffet, two casual snack spots, and two specialty restaurants.
It may not sound like a lot, especially compared to the dining options on larger cruise lines, but it suits the intimate nature of these ships perfectly. Plus, one of the best perks? You rarely have to wait in line for anything. That’s a huge bonus when you're in a hurry to grab a plate of sushi from the Windows Café buffet.
Any major differences between the ships?
That’s a great question, and the answer is… not really. All four ships share the same layout and carry roughly 700 guests each. Most of the differences come down to subtle variations in décor and the timing of refurbishments.
That said, Azamara Onward does stand out for two particular reasons. First, it was the most recently refurbished ship, joining the fleet in 2022 after a full transformation. Second, it’s the only ship that features the exclusive Atlas Bar. While the Atlas Bar itself is unique to Onward, the bar menu has been made available across the fleet.
Azamara Cruises Destinations

For a boutique cruise line with only four ships, Azamara offers an impressive variety of itineraries. You’ll find them sailing across the globe, with a strong presence in Europe and the Caribbean in particular.
Even more exciting: Azamara is returning to Alaska in 2026, a region where they once had a strong footprint and loyal following. They also operate elegant transoceanic voyages, often sailing between Miami and Lisbon, perfect for those who enjoy longer, immersive journeys at sea.
Azamara primarily focuses on longer, more immersive journeys that typically last a week or more. Short sailings are quite rare. In fact, out of the 413 itineraries currently available with Azamara, only five are under seven days.
What sets Azamara apart?
Azamara is also one of the few cruise lines that regularly offers late-night departures and even overnight stays in port. Some of their “Intensive” itineraries feature overnight visits in destinations like Florence, Venice, and Reykjavik, giving you the chance to truly immerse yourself in each location, rather than rushing back to the ship by sunset.
And we can’t forget about AzAmazing Evenings - a signature cultural program exclusive to Azamara. These complimentary shore experiences are designed to showcase the heart of each destination. You might find yourself watching a live performance in Venice, enjoying a private concert in Athens, or taking a tango lesson in Buenos Aires.
Azamara Cruises Main Destinations
The Mediterranean

- Starting price: $1800 per guest
Azamara has a strong presence in the Mediterranean, offering around 150 different itineraries at any given time. Options range from a rare 5-night sailing to an incredible 46-night voyage that travels from Venice to Amsterdam, visiting 11 countries and 37 ports along the way.
They also feature a wide selection of what they call “Intensive” cruises - itineraries that focus on exploring one or two countries in depth. For example, you’ll find Italy Intensive and Greece Intensive sailings, which visit multiple ports within a single country and often include an overnight stay in a highlight destination. These cruises are perfect for guests who want to truly immerse themselves in the culture, cuisine, and history of a specific region.
If you’re looking to explore a single country in depth, we highly recommend one of Azamara’s Intensive sailings. The Greece Intensive voyage is a standout, featuring stops in Mykonos, Santorini, Volos, Kavala, and many more captivating ports.
Alaska

- Starting Price: $3100 per guest
Good news - Azamara is returning to Alaska in 2026, and it’s doing so in style. The line is offering 74 distinct itineraries, ranging from 10-night cruises that focus exclusively on Alaska to transoceanic voyages that include stops in The Last Frontier as part of a larger journey. In true Azamara fashion, you’ll enjoy extended time in port, giving you more opportunities to explore, and the return of AzAmazing Evenings promises unforgettable cultural experiences.
Azamara is also introducing Alaska Cruisetours, combining the best of cruising with immersive land-based adventures. These cruisetours often include in-depth visits to cities like Juneau and Ketchikan, paired with destinations such as Vancouver and even Tokyo. Options range from 12-night packages starting at $5,500 per guest to 22-night journeys that blend Japan and Alaska for approximately $9,500 per guest.
Asia

- Starting Price: $1,700
Azamara Cruises has a strong presence in Asia, often offering longer, immersive itineraries throughout the region. Their shortest cruise in Asia is a 12-night voyage exploring both Japan and Alaska, currently starting at around $1,700. Meanwhile, a Japan Intensive cruise spans 9 nights and begins at approximately $3,600.
Azamara also sails to destinations such as Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore, curating itineraries that blend multiple regions into one unforgettable journey. In typical Azamara fashion, these cruises are rich in port time, often featuring late-night departures and stops in two or three countries, with visits to around 10 unique ports. You might sail from Tokyo to Alaska or embark on a journey from Sydney to Indonesia, all while enjoying the top tier service Azamara is known for.
Caribbean

- Starting Price: $1,200
Azamara has upped their Caribbean in the last few years, offering more itineraries than ever that cruise some of the most beautiful islands in the world. In fact, they have 52 different itineraries available now, and this number is only going to increase.
One of the great things about a Caribbean Cruise is the price. In 2026, you can go on a 6-Night cruise with Azamara for as low as $1,200 power guest, which is a steal considering how much you get in your fare. Most of their cruises, however, sail from San Juan or Bridgetown, but there are some too that sail from New York and a 10-Day cruise from Miami that starts at $1,900.
Destinations include Saint Lucia, Dominica, St. Kitts, Tortola, St. Thomas, St. John’s, and several other ports of call throughout the Caribbean.
