Celebrity Cruise Line is known for:
- Their beautiful, classy areas
- Lots of gardens aboard their ships
- Lounges and bars tailored for guests aged 40-60
- Lots of Shopping options
Attention, thrill seekers! You won’t find bumper cars, a bungee jump platform, or a racing track onboard Celebrity Cruises. Celebrity isn’t about the mega-resort experience; instead, they focus on standard cruise activities designed to help you relax and feel pampered in the middle of the Atlantic. While they may not offer as many entertainment options as the latest Royal Caribbean ships, they still provide a variety of fun things to do tailored for an older audience.

You’ll find trivia nights, bingo nights, and lively casinos on board. What sets Celebrity apart, however, is their unique approach to creating gardens inside their ships - both indoor and outdoor. Is there anything more romantic than traveling across the Atlantic while surrounded by so much greenery?

Gardens onboard Celebrity Cruise Line

Celebrity Cruises are all about uniting nature and cruises. You are already traveling across the ocean on that big-blue world (cue the Finding Nemo song), so why not bring gardens to your cruise ship as well?
Did you know that each of Celebrity’s five Solstice-Class ships features its own Living Lawn? The Lawn Club is one of the most relaxing spaces on board, with real grass. You can enjoy a picnic lunch, read a book, listen to jazz, watch a movie and basically just sleep under the stars in this cozy area.
Art Galleries

Yeah, you’re not cruising aboard the Louvre, but each Celebrity ship has an art gallery aboard their ships. We did tell you that Celebrity is all about a classy atmosphere and bringing unique activities, right? You can even head to the onboard gallery and participate in one of the auctions. Grab a glass of champagne, browse the collection, and bid for anything that catches your eye.
Celebrity’s partnership with Park West, the world’s largest auction house, means you’ll have access to a vast range of artwork. I don’t know much about art myself, but if there’s champagne involved, you can bet I’ll be there!
Shopping

Celebrity Cruise Line also takes shopping to the next level. Did you think you would only spend your money on art auctions? Nah. They have a fine selection of stores aboard their ships, especially the Edge-class ones, with stores like Hublot, TAG Heuer, Zenith, Breitling, Chanel, Dior and more.
Celebrity also offers a program called “Curators of Style,” where professionals provide one-on-one guidance to help you select the perfect outfits and accessories to express your personal style.
The Magic Carpet

Yes, there is a Magic Carpet onboard the Celebrity Edge-class ships. No, we are not talking about something from Aladdin where you can sing “A Whole new World”.
The Magic Carpet is actually a big platform on the side of the ship that moves up and down as your ship cruises the Atlantic. It gives you amazing views of the sea and a great romantic area for you to enjoy a drink. There is even a specialty restaurant there if you want to do something truly unique aboard a cruise.
Shows aboard Celebrity Cruise Line

Celebrity Cruises features Broadway-level shows designed for an older audience. You’ll generally find performances that aren’t based on existing intellectual properties, with a mix of music, dance, and sometimes even ballet. There are nearly twenty different shows across their fleet, with some receiving rave reviews and top scores from Travel Weekly. Their theaters are also beautiful, often featuring LED backdrops and advanced lighting systems that elevate each production to new heights.
Guests often say that the shows on the newer Edge-class ships are excellent, while those on the older ships can feel a bit dated. Instead of listing all the shows available on Celebrity Cruises, let’s focus on the offerings aboard their newest ships and see what Celebrity Cruises has to say about them.
Celebrity Ascent Shows
- Residency: Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, is where some of the world’s greatest music artists perform runs of their most spectacular shows. Now Celebrity guests have the chance to experience the greatest performances, all in one single show.
- Awaken: A captivating, sensory experience taking you on an eye-opening journey through a showcase of surreal dreams, awakening your senses to explore a world where anything is possible.
- Bridges: Bridges is a celebration of human connection, unity and hope set against the backdrop of some of the world's most iconic bridges, immersing our guests in a timeless musical and visual journey inspired by these legendary and aspirational locations.
Celebrity Beyond Shows

- Elements: A journey through the five elements utilizing state-of-the-art technology, mesmerizing visuals, breathtaking acrobatic performances and fashion-inspired costumes. “Air sculptures” are a highlight of the show as air is blown into large sheets of flowing fabric creating dancing art along with a first-ever custom air fountain blow-out that floats over the audience, all of which intertwine with performers and musicians to create stunning visuals like never seen before.
- Stage Door: Stage Door is like having an exclusive backstage pass into the heart of the biggest Broadway and West End musicals. The immersive performances are accompanied by a full symphony orchestra that was recorded in the London Palladium.
- Arte: Arte immerses audiences in iconic works of art in a ground-breaking masterpiece that combines electrifying dance, high-flying acrobatics and mind-bending visual effects with a light-hearted twist.
Celebrity Apex Shows
- Rockumentary: Rock history takes center stage at The Theatre. Relive the epic performances that have defined decade after decade, and rock along with all your favorites.
- Tree Of Life: Join Celebrity on an uplifting journey through the seasons of life and the moments that bring us all together. The Tree of Life transforms through a series of interwoven vignettes that tell stories of unforgettable memories.
- Crystallize: Get ready for a multi-sensory spectacle like you’ve never experienced before, as Celebrity explores the light that burns within us all. Electrifying pop violin music and mesmerizing choreography and aerial acrobatics set the rhythm for a high-energy light show, featuring groundbreaking special effects that will take your breath away.
Kids Club onboard Celebrity Cruise Line

Many people aren’t aware that Celebrity Cruises features a Kids Club called Camp at Sea, as the line typically attracts an older audience and couples seeking a romantic getaway. While Camp at Sea isn’t as extensive as the Kids Clubs on Disney Cruise Line or Royal Caribbean, it still serves its purpose.
It’s designed for children ages 3 to 17 and is divided into various age-specific sub-categories.
The different groups are:
- Shipmates (ages 3-5): Most kids in this age group work on their art skills and engage in creative activities while interacting with their friends.
- Cadets (ages 6-9): This age group enjoys a variety of activities, including learning about ships and sailing, studying the weather, and participating in movie nights and activities in the onboard gardens.
- Captains (ages 10-12): Kids in this group are into scavenger hunts, sports tournaments, and video games.
- Teens (ages 13-17): Teens have their own private lounge to relax and socialize. The Teen Club also offers sports competitions, silent disco parties, and video game tournaments.
As you can see, there aren’t programs designated to parents with toddlers. There are, however, specific times where parents can head to the Camp at Sea to play with their younglings, but guests can’t leave toddlers there unattended.
Camp at Sea is complimentary for all guests and is open daily from 9:00am to 10:00pm. A Slumber Party is offered nightly from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am on a sign-up basis, costing $6 per hour per child.
Nightlife onboard Celebrity Cruise Line

Nightlife aboard Celebrity Cruises are all about shows, lounges and bars. You will generally find one or more bars with live music per night, from jazz all the way to old classics. Don’t expect to find crazy nightclubs that are open until 3am. This is a cruise line that is more about grabbing a drink, sitting down with the love of your life and enjoying live music. The nightlife is definitely more geared for guests that are 40-60 years old.
So, if you enjoy partying wildly with friends or your significant other, Virgin Voyages or Carnival Cruise Line might be perfect for you. However, if you still like to party but prefer to sit back and enjoy a drink rather than dance all night, you’ll likely enjoy Celebrity Cruises.
The Club

The Club is the main nightclub aboard the recently launched Edge ships. During the day, it serves as a gathering space where you can engage in creative activities during Art Hour or enjoy the Rec Room series, which includes Archery, Retro Gaming, and interactive game shows.
In the evening, The Club transforms into a venue for talk shows, game shows, live music, and DJs. It’s the place to be if you love to dance the night away to hits like “I Gotta Feeling.” However, keep in mind that Celebrity Cruises isn’t known for a wild nightlife, so it’s quite normal for the venue to quiet down by midnight.
Pools aboard Celebrity Cruise Line

There are pros and cons when it comes to pools on Celebrity Cruises. On the positive side, the pools on their most recent ships are quite attractive and spacious. For instance, the pool on Celebrity Edge is 25 yards long, making it a delight for swimming laps. The surrounding areas are also beautifully designed, featuring several waiters, stunning sculptures, and upbeat music.
The older Millennium Class ships (Millennium, Infinity, Constellation, and Summit) have saltwater pools, while the newer Solstice Class and Edge Class ships feature freshwater pools.
Do Celebrity Cruise Line ships have waterparks?
Just don’t expect to find ships with five or more pools or waterparks and slides. Celebrity Cruises focuses on relaxation and enjoying the view with a drink in hand, so high-energy water attractions like slides don’t fit their vision of an elegant cruise experience for an older audience.
On Celebrity Apex, there are three pools and five hot tubs. The adults-only Solarium features a pool and two hot tubs, while Deck 14 boasts a large main pool. Additionally, there’s a private pool for suite guests in The Retreat, which also includes three hot tubs. The good news is that pools on Celebrity Cruises rarely get so crowded that you can't find a free chair to relax and get a nice tan.
Celebrity Cruise Line Shore Excursions

As is common with major cruise lines, Celebrity Cruises offers hundreds of different excursions that vary depending on the specific itinerary. Shore Excursions are available to purchase approximately 9-12 months prior to your embarkation date online through your Guest Account or via the Celebrity Cruises App.
There are three different types of cruise excursions offered by Celebrity Cruises, including the unique Private Journey excursion that let you create an excursion from scratch!
The shore excursions are divided into:
- Private Journey: Reserve a tour exclusively for your group or customize a spectacular itinerary just for you. Contact Celebrity Cruises in advance to determine if your excursion idea is feasible and to get a cost estimate. It’s a good idea to email Celebrity as soon as you book your cruise to begin arranging your customized itinerary.
- Small Group Discoveries: These are pre-defined tours with a small group of passengers, designed for up to 24 guests. They are some of the most popular tours offered and can sell out really fast.
- Destination highlights: the classic excursions that visit the most important landmarks in the world, designed for large groups. Want to visit the Eiffel Tower in Paris? The Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro? These are probably the excursions you are looking for.
