For now, let us begin with the staterooms.
Room Options Onboard Cunard Cruise Line

Staterooms aboard Cunard ships are typically spacious and elegantly appointed, often more generous than those found on many other cruise lines. Bathrooms are consistent across the fleet, with older vessels featuring classic shower curtains, while the newest ship, Queen Anne, offers modern sliding doors. Storage is plentiful, and each room provides ample desk space for those who wish to work while at sea. A signature touch is Cunard’s in-room tray with a kettle, tea, and biscuits - a charming nod to British tradition that makes every guest feel like royalty.
Most Cunard staterooms and suites are designed for two guests, with six distinctive accommodation categories to choose from:
- Britannia Stateroom (Approximately 152-243 sq. ft.)
 - Britannia OceanView (Approximately 133-201 sq. ft.)
 - Britannia Balcony (Approximately 228-472 sq. ft.)
 - Britannia Club Balcony (Approximately 248-470 sq. ft.)
 - Princess Grill Suite (Approximately 335-513 sq. ft.)
 - Queens Grill Suite (Approximately 484-2,249 sq. ft.)

The Britannia Stateroom, Oceanview, and Balcony Cabins are classic choices that reflect the traditions of ocean travel. The Britannia Stateroom is an interior retreat and the most affordable option, while the Oceanview Cabin features a picture window or porthole framing ever-changing sea views. For those who prefer their own private outdoor space, the Balcony Cabin offers a personal verandah complete with a small table and two chairs, perfect for morning coffee or sunset cocktails at sea.
Solo Cabins

Cunard was among the first cruise lines to introduce dedicated accommodations for solo travelers, making it an exceptional choice for guests sailing on their own who also wish to enjoy value and comfort. These staterooms are available in two categories: Inside Solo Cabins (152 to 243 sq. ft.) and Oceanview Solo Cabins (133 to 201 sq. ft.).
Britannia Club Balcony

So, what sets the Britannia Club Balcony Stateroom apart? While similar in design to a traditional Balcony Cabin, it comes with a collection of benefits. Guests enjoy priority embarkation and disembarkation, an in-room specialty tea and coffee maker, and, perhaps the greatest distinction, exclusive access to the Britannia Club Restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an intimate and refined setting.
Suites

The Grill Suites elevate the Cunard experience to an unmatched level of luxury, each paired with its own exclusive dining venue. Guests in a Princess Grill Suite enjoy access to the elegant Princess Grill Restaurant, while those in a Queens Grill Suite dine in the most prestigious venue of all, the Queens Grill Restaurant. Both suite categories include priority embarkation and disembarkation, with Queens Grill guests additionally indulging in the services of a dedicated personal butler, ensuring every detail of their journey is flawlessly attended to.

Dining Options Onboard Cunard Cruise Line

Dining on Cunard Cruise Line is widely regarded as very good, earning a solid eight out of ten. While it may not quite match the culinary heights of ultra-luxury lines like Explora Journeys, it is comparable to offerings on Holland America and Celebrity Cruises. In other words, a notable step above mainstream cruise lines, though not entirely exceptional.
Afternoon tea is a Cunard tradition and is included in your base cruise fare, along with tea, coffee, water, and fruit juice. Guests also enjoy complimentary breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the buffet and main dining rooms. Specialty restaurants, however, carry an additional charge, as do alcoholic beverages.
Dietary Needs
Vegetarian and vegan options are standard across the entire fleet, available in all dining venues. Cunard requests that guests inform them of any allergies or special dietary requirements at the time of booking, and no later than three days before departure. Travel agencies such as Famvia are also happy to assist with these arrangements.
Dress Code
During the day, the dress code is casual, so T-shirts and activewear are perfectly acceptable, though swimwear is not permitted in indoor dining areas. Most evenings call for smart attire, such as cocktail dresses, tailored jackets, or elegant separates.
Cunard is also renowned for its Gala Evenings, so it is wise to bring something glamorous. On these occasions, guests often choose tuxedos, evening gowns, or something special that make them feel their very best. Some sailings even feature masquerade balls, transporting you to the elegance and intrigue of Renaissance Italy.
Room Service
Room service to Britannia staterooms come with additional charges, however for Britannia Club and Grills Suite guests, all dishes are complimentary unless otherwise stated. Complimentary breakfast in bed is available to all guests.
Does Cunard Cruise Line have a Main Dining Room?

Yes, it does. In fact, each ship features four distinct main dining rooms: the Britannia Restaurant, the Britannia Club Restaurant, the Princess Grill Restaurant, and the Queens Grill Restaurant. Each dining room corresponds to a specific accommodation category on board Cunard ships. For example, guests in a Britannia Stateroom dine in the Britannia Restaurant, while higher-tier accommodations enjoy the exclusive Club or Grill restaurants.
The Britannia Dining Room is the largest and most impressive dining venue on each ship. Guests can choose an early or late seating, or enjoy the flexibility of open dining, joining a virtual queue when ready to eat.
For those staying in Britannia Club, Princess Grill, or Queens Grill suites, a dedicated table awaits for the duration of the voyage. This allows you to dine at your leisure, without the need to pre-book or wait in a virtual queue.
Carry-on Drinks Policy
The official UK FAQ states that guests may bring one bottle of wine or champagne per person, up to 750ml. If you choose to enjoy it in any of the dining rooms, alternative restaurants, or bars, a corkage fee of $25 per bottle will apply. That said, many passengers report bringing additional beverages on board without ever encountering any issues.
Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea is a celebrated tradition on Cunard Cruise Line and is included in your fare. This elegant event takes place daily from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the Queens Room, a space reminiscent of a stately ballroom with ambient lighting and ornate furnishings. Guests are attended by white-glove butlers and can enjoy an ever-changing selection of treats, typically including freshly baked scones, delicate patisserie, and a variety of fine teas.
Guests in the Grills may also enjoy Afternoon Tea in the more intimate Princess Grill Restaurant (or Grills Lounge on Queen Mary 2), while a more casual version is available in the Lido or Kings Court.
You can also try what Cunard calls “Champagne Tea”, which includes a bottle of Champagne for $35.
Gala Nights
Dress to impress, as every Cunard Cruise Line itinerary includes at least one Gala Night. On these evenings, the main dining room presents a celebratory Gala Evening menu, offering a sumptuous feast of up to five courses, complete with amuse-bouche and petit fours. Guests in the Queens Grill Suites enjoy a specially curated Gala menu designed by the two Michelin-starred chef, Michel Roux.
