Margaritaville at Sea is pretty standard when it comes to staterooms and dining options. You’ll find your classic interior staterooms and suites, along with a main dining room, a buffet, and a few snack bars. Both of their ships actually differ a bit when it comes to stateroom categories and onboard dining. The Islander, being the newer ship, has more subcategory options and a couple of extra snack bars for you to enjoy.
Just keep in mind that the buffet is smaller than what you might be used to on a cruise line like Royal Caribbean. But remember: Margaritaville at Sea offers some amazing prices, so don’t expect a buffet with an incredible variety of food once you're onboard.

For now, let’s dive into the stateroom options aboard Margaritaville at Sea.
Margaritaville at Sea Room Options

Margaritaville at Sea offers four different stateroom options:
- Interior
- Oceanview
- Balcony (Islander only)
- Suites
As we mentioned earlier, the Islander cruise ship has more room subcategories compared to the Paradise. In fact, Paradise doesn’t have traditional balcony cabins at all - it jumps straight from an Oceanview cabin to a Junior Suite. So, if you’re sailing on Paradise and want a balcony, you’ll need to book one of the Grand Terrace Suites.
Let’s check the room categories now.
Interior Staterooms

- Good for: those that want to save money, if you aren’t going to spend a lot of time in your room.
- Max guests: 4
Interior Staterooms are great if you're planning to spend most of your time exploring the ship, dancing to live music, or just partying all day and night. These rooms don’t have windows or balconies, but they do have everything you need: a comfy bed, solid storage, and a nice bathroom with a shower. Both the Islander and Paradise offer a single Interior stateroom category, with the ones on Islander being slightly newer.
They range from about 176 to 185 square feet, which is totally fine for couples or small groups who plan to be out and about… preferably with a margarita in hand.
Oceanview Staterooms

- Good for: those that (still) want to save money, if you want some natural light in your room.
- Max guests: 4
Oceanview rooms are perfect for travelers who want a little sunlight and the chance to check out the scenery around them. These staterooms offer all the same comforts as the interior rooms, but with a porthole or window so you can watch the sunrise or simply enjoy the ocean in front of you… with a margarita in hand, of course.
The Islander has two options: the Partial Oceanview Stateroom and the Picturesque Oceanview Stateroom. The Paradise, on the other hand, only offers the Picturesque version. The main difference is in the view: the partial option comes with a partially or fully obstructed view, but it usually costs a bit less.
These rooms are about the same size as the interior staterooms. Another nice perk? They're often just a little more expensive than an interior room - sometimes only $10 to $50 more - so the upgrade might be well worth it if you want to let some natural light shine into your morning.
Balcony Staterooms

- Good for: if you want your own private verandah.
- Max Guests: 3 or 4
Balcony staterooms are only available onboard the Islander, and as you’d expect, they come with your own private verandah to enjoy the sea breeze. There are five different balcony subcategories, ranging from cabins with a partially obstructed view (which cost a bit less) to rooms that offer larger balcony spaces for lounging in style.
Two of the fancier suites also come with a nice extra perk: a Suite-Exclusive Dinner Menu available in the Main Dining Room.
An entry-level balcony cabin typically costs about $100 to $200 more than an oceanview room, so if you’re dreaming of coffee at sunrise or cocktails at sunset with a view, the upgrade might be worth every penny.
Suites

- Good for: if you want bigger rooms, if you want extra perks.
- Max Guests: 3 or 4.
There are two types of suites available on both ships: the Junior Suite and the Grand Terrace Suite. The Islander has a couple extra options, including the Signature Suite. One important thing to note is that the Junior Suite on the Islander comes with a balcony, while the one on the Paradise has two large porthole windows instead.
The Grand Terrace Suite is larger than the Junior Suite and includes a private seating area, giving you more space to stretch out and relax. Both suite types start at around 408 square feet, offering a big step up in comfort and roominess compared to standard staterooms.
Suites on the Islander also comes with extra perks, like:
- Priority Check-In and Boarding
- Priority Debarkation
- Exclusive Concierge Services (Grand Suites only)
- Suite-Exclusive Dinner Menu in Main Dining Rooms
- Complimentary in-room water
- Cozy Bathrobes and Slippers to use during your stay
Margaritaville at Sea Dining Options

Margaritaville at Sea offers a mix of complimentary dining options and specialty restaurants that cost extra. Each ship has one main dining room and a buffet included in your cruise fare, along with a few casual snack bars. You’ll also find a sushi bar, a steakhouse, and a specialty coffee shop on both ships, but those come with an additional charge.
The Islander has slightly more dining options compared to the Paradise, thanks to its newer design and larger layout. Overall, the food onboard is considered good, with a strong focus on comfort food like burgers and pizza. In fact, Margaritaville at Sea is known for having some of the best pizza at sea, often compared to what you'd get on MSC Cruises.
So, if you love the idea of cruising the Caribbean while enjoying a nice pepperoni pizza, these guys definitely deliver. Just don’t forget to hit the gym later!
Dietary Needs
If you have any dietary needs, it’s important to speak with a crew member once you're onboard. There are plenty of gluten-free options available, but for specific requests, it’s always best to talk directly to the chef, or let Famvia handle it for you ahead of time.
Dress Code
There isn’t really a strict dress code onboard Margaritaville at Sea. Here’s what the official website says: “Dinner and evening attire is casual chic, with proper attire required for select restaurants, including collared shirts, blouses, pants, dresses, and skirts. Tank tops and swimsuits are not permitted in the dining areas.”
In all honesty, as long as you’re not in swimwear and you throw on a pair of jeans at night, you can pretty much go anywhere without a problem.
Room Service
Room service is available à la carte on both ships and costs extra.
Does Margaritaville at Sea have a Main Dining Room and a Buffet?

Yes, Margaritaville at Sea has a main dining room and a buffet on both of their ships. The main dining room is called Fins Dining, while the buffet goes by the name Port of Indecision Buffet.
The main dining room offers open seating, so you don’t need a fixed dinner time. You can usually arrive anytime between 5:15pm and 9:00pm My tip? Aim for around 7:00pm, since it can get really crowded when it first opens at 5:00pm.
The buffet is complimentary and open during select times throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
What are the complimentary dining options on Margaritaville at Sea?
Good question! There are a couple more complimentary restaurants on Margaritaville at Sea that go beyond the Main Dining Room and the buffet. They are:
- Cheeseburger in Paradise Burger Bar
- Frank & Lola’s Pizzeria
- Mexican Cutie Cantina (Islander only)
As you can see, the complimentary options are all about comfort food, which makes sense for a cruise line that sails exclusively to the Caribbean. Make sure to try their pizza at least once, it’s really good! The Islander also has an exclusive Mexican snack bar where you can build your own tacos and burritos.
Specialty Restaurants onboard Margaritaville at Sea
Margaritaville at Sea also has a couple of dining options that cost extra, on both the Paradise and the Islander.
- JWB Prime Steakhouse
- Far Side Sushi
- Margaritaville Coffee Shop
- Island Eats (Islander only)
- Tiki Grill (Islander only)
JWB Prime Steakhouse is probably the best specialty restaurant onboard. Named after Jimmy Buffett’s dad, James William Buffett, this is the place to go for prime cuts and lobster tail. You'll pay roughly $55 per person for a three-course dinner, or you can bundle it into a dining package for more savings.
Far Side Sushi is another great option, priced at around $75 per guest for a sampler experience.
