Legend of the Seas

Europe, meet the biggest cruise ship to ever grace planet Earth

The Icon Class is getting even bigger in 2026 with the launch of Legend of the Seas, the sister ship to the wildly popular Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. Royal Caribbean fans might know that this name was used by another ship in the past, and just like a good movie reboot, it’s now being used for one of the most anticipated cruise ships in the world.

Much like its older sisters, Legend of the Seas will be massive, and will share the title of the biggest cruise ship… ever. We’re talking about a true juggernaut: over 7,000 passengers, more than 40 dining venues, wild onboard attractions, incredible suites, and so much more. If you’re into the mega-resort-at-sea experience with your family, you’re going to have an absolute blast on this ship.

What is Legend of the Seas?

Legend of the Seas is a new Icon-class ship from Royal Caribbean, set to sail in Europe starting July 2026, and in the Caribbean by November 2026. Alongside Star of the Seas and Icon of the Seas, it will share the title of the biggest cruise ship in the world. This floating mega-resort is packed with waterparks, multiple pools, waterslides, and massive entertainment complexes, making it a fantastic option for families and kids alike.

What is new on Legend of the Seas compared to the other Icon-Class ships?

Good question! Not everything has been revealed about Legend of the Seas just yet, but we do know a few details that will set it apart from its older siblings. Royal Caribbean isn’t making any major structural changes, but you can expect updated designs in some venues, a brand-new headliner show, and a few other tweaks here and there.

Here’s what we know so far:

  • The biggest change? The itineraries. Legend of the Seas will first launch in Europe, sailing from Barcelona between July and October 2026. Then, in November, it’s heading to Florida to offer Western and Southern Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale. Europeans have been asking for an Icon-class ship to sail closer to home for ages, and now they finally have the chance to experience one, even if just for a few months.
  • There will be new entertainment options onboard, including some exciting additions to the water attractions. One standout? A free-fall vertical slide. Yep, it sounds a lot like those towering slides at Aquatica, where you step into a capsule, hug your chest, and drop like a bomb. They’re always fun* (*uhh, depends on your anxiety levels), and that moment of anticipation right before the floor disappears? So good.
  • There will be a brand-new major show onboard Legend of the Seas, though it’s still a secret for now. Icon of the Seas features The Wizard of Oz, Star of the Seas has the Back to the Future musical, and Legend of the Seas will debut something new.
  • Empire Super Club, the fancy restaurant onboard the Icon-class ships, will have a new theme on Legend of the Seas. While Icon of the Seas features a Chicago-inspired atmosphere, Legend of the Seas will take guests to the glamour of Hollywood.

What are the main destinations for Legend of the Seas?

From July to October 2026, Legend of the Seas will sail Western Mediterranean cruises. Then, starting in November 2026, it will offer 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, so expect to visit places like Aruba and Curaçao.
