The Celebrity Edge is a hallmark of Celebrity Cruises. It’s the first-ever EDGE-class ship, launched in 2018, and it introduced many new concepts that would define the brand in the years to come. It was the Celebrity Edge that first revealed the Magic Carpet to the world, along with the space known as Eden and the innovative Infinite Verandas. It was Celebrity’s way of showing that, yes, they were serious about cruising. Oh, and that they were edgy.
The Celebrity Edge is gorgeous. It has rooftop gardens, beautiful dining venues, great shopping, and it sails to some truly unique destinations. Today, the Edge travels to Alaska, Hawaii, and Oceania, and it’s definitely a top choice if you want to explore these places in luxury and style.

We love that this ship screams luxury without coming with a sky-high price tag. A 7-night cruise to Alaska aboard Celebrity Edge starts at around $1,200 per guest, which is fair for a cruise line that offers such an upscale experience. And, let’s be honest, everything about the Edge looks amazing, which helps justify the price.
There’s Eden, a three-level venue that’s part restaurant, part lounge, part bar, and part cozy live music spot. There’s also the rooftop garden, filled with lush plants and comfy sofas, perfect for enjoying a drink and connecting with nature while you sail to Alaska or Sydney. You’ll also find art galleries and plenty of shopping opportunities on board. As you can probably tell, this ship is designed more for those who want to be surrounded by beautiful spaces and enjoy relaxing vibes, rather than non-stop action with roller coasters and waterparks.
Food is also considered one of the highlights of the Edge. The Main Dining Room offers more variety and better quality compared to some other cruise lines. There are four main dining rooms and a massive buffet, so, yeah, you’ll never go hungry. The specialty restaurants are even better, so definitely book a spot at places like Le Grand Bistro or Le Petit Chef.

We also can’t forget the Magic Carpet, which was first introduced on Celebrity Edge and later appeared on other EDGE-class ships like Celebrity Apex. The Magic Carpet is a moving platform attached to the side of the ship that travels up and down, offering incredible views of the sea. Depending on the time of day, it serves as a bar or even a restaurant. It’s a truly unique experience, so make sure to check it out at least once.
Last but not least... the Infinite Verandas. Celebrity Edge was the first ship to introduce this concept. Some guests love it, while others prefer the traditional balcony. An Infinite Veranda is essentially an extension of your room, featuring a floor-to-ceiling window with ocean views. That window is probably the main drawback of Infinite Verandas, but the top half can be lowered at the push of a button. You can also lower a blackout shade to block the light, giving your room the extra space of a balcony. It’s a fun concept, though we get why some people still prefer the classic balcony feel.

Celebrity Edge is a ship best suited for travelers who want to explore amazing destinations, enjoy great food, and simply relax on a beautiful cruise. The entertainment options are a bit limited. The shows aren’t as impressive as those on some other cruise lines, there are no waterparks, and the pools, while stylish, are on the smaller side.
This isn’t a ship I’d recommend for families with kids. If you’re looking to visit Alaska with children, I’d suggest checking out Disney Cruise Line or Norwegian Cruise Line instead. But if you’re not too concerned about waterslides or oversized pools, there’s a good chance you’ll love your time aboard the Celebrity Edge. It still ranks among the best cruise ships in the world and stands as a hallmark that truly put Celebrity Cruises on the map.
