Disney Newport Bay Club is Disneyland Paris’ version of Disney’s Yacht Club.
Disney Newport Bay Club is for those who want a beautiful hotel that feels like something between a moderate and deluxe resort, without the hefty price tag of the Disneyland Hotel or Disney Hotel New York. Oh, and also if you love lakes, sailboats and a charming atmosphere.
Newport Bay Club is filled with nautical details and is often a top pick for adults and business travelers who want to enjoy Disneyland. You’ll find two beautiful pools, a friendly staff that keeps everything spotless, a convention center and cozy rooms just a 15-minute walk from the parks. So, is this resort worth a look if you’re planning to see Mickey in Paris? Let’s check it out.
What we like about Disney Newport Bay Club
Disney Newport Bay Club is an excellent resort for adults. It is not heavy on Disney theming, but it carries a charm and elegance that is hard to match, and even the more expensive and contemporary Disney Hotel New York cannot quite compare. The resort features two large pools, a sauna, and a gym, and its location right next to Lake Disney makes it perfect for anyone seeking a serene place to relax, whether early in the morning or after a full day in the parks. It also has a large convention center with an exhibition hall and meeting rooms, which makes the comparison to Disney World’s Yacht Club even stronger.
Rooms here are spacious and clean, and they can sleep up to four guests. The beds are also more comfortable than those at similar hotels like Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge. The staff keeps everything in perfect condition, and the nautical theme with its whites and browns feels more modern and easy on the eyes compared to the two resorts mentioned above. Some rooms even offer beautiful views of Lake Disney, which is a major perk, and the morning breeze is a welcome touch. When it comes to rooms, this resort is probably in the top three at Disneyland Paris.
There are other smart touches that make this hotel extra cozy. It features not one but two large pools, one indoor and one outdoor, both heated. The indoor pool comes with sprinklers, jacuzzis, and extra lounge chairs. Technically, it is a single pool that transitions from the inside area to the outside through a canal, and it is another spot that both adults and children will enjoy.
Even though this is a more adult-friendly hotel, there are daily meet and greets with classic Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald. After all, you do not need to be a kid to put on a captain’s hat and snap a picture with the most famous mouse of all time.
What we don’t like about Disney Newport Bay Club
One thing I think Disney Newport Bay Club misses is an outstanding dining option. While Disney Hotel New York has the amazing Downtown Restaurant and the Disneyland Hotel offers plenty of different character dining experiences, there is nothing quite on that level at Newport Bay Club. It features the Yacht Club restaurant, the Cape Cod buffet, and a nautical bar, and they are mostly… fine. For a hotel that is more expensive than Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge, and is known for its elegant and cozy ambiance, having an exclusive, standout restaurant would really make this a great choice for families.
The resort might also feel a bit too big. It is one of the largest, if not the largest, resorts at Disneyland Paris, and getting to your room can take a while. This also means some rooms enjoy great views of the lake or gardens, while others look out over the parking lot. It can feel a bit like a gamble, and finding your way around when you first arrive might take some time.
Conclusion
Disney Newport Bay Club is for those who want a little less Disney and more of a traditional nautical hotel that is clean, staffed by an excellent team, and offers a quiet, serene atmosphere. It does not excel in any one area, but it also does not have anything we would call outright bad. Restaurants? Okay. Size? Okay. Pools? Okay. If you are traveling with children, there are probably better options, but adults may want to give this one a closer look.
