Norwegian Encore is a Breakaway-Plus class ship and the sister ship to Norwegian Bliss, which launched in 2019. This ship is perfect for those who love fun and are willing to pay extra to enjoy all the activities onboard. Not only does Norwegian Encore have a huge entertainment complex, but it also features a go-kart racing track, an escape room, two water parks, and plenty of surprises for both kids and adults. Planning an unforgettable family trip to Alaska, the Caribbean, or the Panama Canal? You might have just found your new best friend.

The best part about Norwegian Encore is all the activities you can enjoy onboard. This ship is the true definition of a mega-resort at sea and comes at a great price, starting at just $400 for a 7-day Caribbean cruise. Onboard, you’ll find a go-kart racing track, a massive entertainment complex with VR games called the Galaxy Pavilion, an escape room, and two water parks - one for little kids and the other for teens and adults. There are plenty of waterslides too, and while they might not be the biggest or wildest you’ve ever seen, they definitely get the job done.
I often see people asking whether the Norwegian Encore is more fun than the Norwegian Bliss. Both ships are very similar and only a year apart in age, but I’d give the edge to Encore overall. For example, Encore features the Galaxy Pavilion arena for families and an escape room, which is a unique and really fun option for guests. It also has an exclusive restaurant not found on Bliss - Onda by Scarpetta - often considered the second-best dining option onboard after Food Republic. The go-kart racing track on Encore is bigger and more spacious as well.
Norwegian Bliss does have Horizon Park, a themed, relaxing space for families, which Encore doesn’t, but overall, Norwegian Encore takes the lead as the best ship. Both are excellent choices, especially considering Encore was refurbished in 2024 and Bliss received updates in 2025.
The Encore, like the Norwegian Bliss, also has the Observation Lounge - a peaceful spot with floor-to-ceiling windows that are perfect for cruising through Alaska. It also hosts some fun shows, including Choir of Man, a lively concert set in an English pub where guests are even invited on stage to sing and enjoy a beer. I mean, being asked to share a Guinness with random strangers? Count me in.

Norwegian Encore does have a few downsides that come with any huge mega-resort at sea. Crowded spaces are the main issue, especially on some Caribbean itineraries. Staterooms can feel a bit small, and hallways are narrow. Still, these are understandable given what this ship offers and its pretty reasonable price tag.
The main drawback? Onboard announcements often promote special promotions and prize draws, but the issue is that almost all the unique entertainment comes at a price. The go-kart, escape room, Galaxy Pavilion, and arcade all require extra payment. In fact, there are more paid activities on Norwegian Encore than on Norwegian Bliss. That’s a bit of a letdown when you consider the escape room is $24 per guest for a 45-minute experience, and the go-kart costs $15 for about eight laps. With a cruise fare around $400, it’s easy to end up spending half of that just on activities and drinks.
Norwegian Encore is an excellent ship for families, especially those willing to pay a bit extra to enjoy the go-kart racing track and escape room. It offers tons of unique entertainment options and standout shows that feel different from what you’ll find on other cruise lines. If you’re ready for a mega-resort experience and understand that some activities come with additional costs, this ship is perfect for you.
