Enchanted Princess is one of the best ships in the entire Princess Cruise Line fleet. That’s a pretty bold way to open a paragraph, we know, but we’re talking about a ship that does almost everything right. It offers fun itineraries across North America and Europe, the Medallion onboard works wonders, the food is a step above, and the staff carries that official seal of quality Princess is known for. If you want an amazing Princess Cruise Line experience but don’t want to pay much more for a ship like Sun Princess, then get ready to be enchanted.
What we like about Enchanted Princess
Let’s start by saying there’s a huge difference in how the Medallion works on Enchanted Princess compared to older ships. For those who don’t know, the Medallion is a disk that looks like an artifact from Indiana Jones. It replaces your keycard and can do everything from opening your stateroom door to ordering drinks and verifying your identity. It even has a locator, so you can use your app to order food or drinks, and someone on the ship will bring it directly to you (and calling you by name!). It’s pretty neat and doesn’t glitch like the Medallion on previous Princess ships.
Restaurants onboard are also a step up. Pizza on Princess Cruise Line is some of the best at sea - next to the pizza at MSC Cruises - so it was a smart move to replace the noodle bar with the free pizza-by-the-slice counter on the Lido Deck. The buffet is also a huge improvement over previous Princess classes, and the food quality in the main dining room has stepped up as well. There are more options to choose from, and walking around is just easier in general.
Our favorite specialty restaurant is probably the 360 Experience. This seven-course dining adventure blends a meal with a show, where about fifteen guests sit around a large table and are surrounded by visuals and effects from all over the world. The staff does a wonderful job entertaining guests and serving dishes that correspond to what’s being shown around you. The food is good, but you come here for the full experience, and at $150, it’s definitely worth it.
The staff is great, and is always ready to lend a hand. That’s a staple on Princess Cruise Line, so it’s great to see that crew members are always welcoming you with a genuine smile. You also don’t usually have to wait a lot when you order something through the Medallion, which is great.
What we don’t like about Enchanted Princess
As a ship, Enchanted Princess doesn’t disappoint. It has some great shows, the food is above average, and the service is excellent. There are, however, a few small issues with the staterooms. You probably won’t notice them if you stay in one of the gorgeous Sky Suites, but anyone in a balcony cabin or below will find a cozy room with comfortable beds… and a few quirks.
For example, the shower has a curtain instead of a glass door, which feels a bit off for a cruise line known for being romantic and a step above mainstream lines. I also wish there was more storage space, and a minor nitpick is that the line provides a combined shampoo/conditioner instead of separate bottles. It’s a very small issue, but for a cruise line that prides itself on being classy and romantic, a little extra would have been nice.
Conclusion
Enchanted Princess is a fan favorite when it comes to Princess Cruise Line. It’s usually not overly expensive and has some popular East Coast itineraries, perfect for those living in Florida or New York. The staff is outstanding, the specialty restaurants earn an 8/10, and the vibe is calm and serene. You really can’t ask for much more.
