Wonder of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s most popular ships, having launched in 2022 and continuing the tradition set by the Oasis-class. It still ranks among the biggest cruise ships in the world (with a capacity of up to 5,734 guests… which is, well, a lot), and it’s only slightly smaller and has fewer amenities compared to the newer Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas.
Does that make it any less fun? Not at all. In fact, Wonder features some amazing slides, three large main pools, and a much lower price tag, making it a fantastic choice for anyone looking to save money on a weekend cruise out of Miami.

Wonder of the Seas is a massive mega-resort at sea, and by now, you probably know exactly what that means.Huge waterparks? Check. Crazy waterslides? Absolutely. Broadway-level shows? Yep. Tons of entertainment options that are a big hit with Royal Caribbean fans? Oh yeah!
Wonder of the Seas feels like a slightly smaller version of Icon of the Seas, but still delivers some of the best family-friendly entertainment you’ll find at sea. The best part? While cruises on an Icon-class ship often start around $1,100, a 4-day Caribbean cruise on Wonder of the Seas starts at just $390. That’s an amazing price for a ship that’s barely three years old and packed with features, making it a very popular choice for families.
There’s a lot to do onboard this cruise ship, almost as much as the newer ships launching in 2025. The Ultimate Abyss dry slide looks cool as heck, and there’s a fantastic water park that's perfect for kids. You'll also find an ice skating rink (fun for both adults and younglings), mini-golf, a pickleball court, rock climbing walls, multiple waterslides, a carousel, laser tag, a giant FlowRider, and more. Yeah, there’s a lot going on, especially for families with children. You definitely won’t get bored here. And since this ship is slightly smaller than Icon of the Seas, a 4-night cruise feels just right to experience most of what it has to offer.
The shows onboard are also top-notch. You’ll get a performance at the AquaTheater, an ice show at the skating rink, and a main production in the ship’s main theater. Each one offers something totally different - one focuses on dance, another showcases skilled ice skaters, and the third features acrobats and water effects. There isn’t, however, a blockbuster Broadway show like you’d find on Icon-Class ships.

Even though this is an amazing family-friendly cruise ship, it’s not without a few downsides. One of the main issues is the limited number of pools. Sure, there are three main pools onboard, but that’s not really enough for over 4,000 guests, especially when the pools themselves aren’t particularly large. That’s definitely an area where the Icon-class ships stepped things up, offering more pool options and better capacity for everyone onboard.
Other than that, there are a few small issues that don’t really deserve their own section. The food is average, especially the complimentary options, and finding a late-night snack can be tricky. Some guests also feel that the lack of a full-scale Broadway musical is a bit of a letdown, but it’s understandable that Royal Caribbean likely wanted to reserve those productions for Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas.
If you looked up “mega-resort at sea” in the dictionary, Wonder of the Seas would probably be listed. This is a ship that still feels fresh and packed with things to do. Royal Caribbean likes to say it’s the perfect weekend cruise for fun, and I agree. With tons of shows, exciting activities, and a very attractive price point, this ship truly is a Wonder.
