This Popular Ride Closed for a Full Day at Disney World

We hate when something like this happens! If you were at Magic Kingdom this past Sunday, TRON Lightcycle / Run was closed for the entire day. The weather didn't look good and it was rainy, but that shouldn't be a big problem, since Tron is mostly set indoors. The unexpected closure left us wondering about what really happened to cause this recent attraction - part of a Virtual Queue and individual Lightning Lanes - to remain closed for such a long time.

When guests headed to Tomorrowland, they were instantly greeted with the sad news that TRON Lightcycle / Run was closed. Cast Members who were positioned near the ride informed visitors that the roller coaster was not operational. The closure of course created speculation among guests, because TRON Lightcycle / Run usually operates perfectly regardless of weather conditions.

    Something important to consider

TRON Lightcycle Run doesn’t have a “physical” standby line. If you want to experience this attraction, guests must either secure a spot in the Virtual Queue or use the paid Individual Lightning Lane option. For the ones who were already in the Virtual Queue, the closure meant waiting for the ride to resume operation.

What about the ones who purchased the Individual lightning line?

Those who purchased it had the option to have an "experience redemption," providing them with a boarding pass valid for any time after the ride reopened. However, the ride remained closed for the entire day, and guests had the option to request a refund at Guest Relations. Remember that refunds are only available if a ride doesn't open or if Disney officially announces its closure for the remainder of the day.

These unexpected closures can leave Disney World visitors really disappointed because you don’t know if that was your last day at the park and you didn’t get the chance to try a popular attraction. If you want to book another visit to Walt Disney World, just to try this amazing ride, we can help you with that! Send us a message, and we will help you as soon as possible.
