The new land introduced an unprecedented level of in-universe merchandise, with none more iconic than the Harry Potter wands we see some of our favorite characters using in the movies and in the books.
The significance of wands in the Wizarding World has a very similar meaning to the ones we find in different stories set in JK Rowling's universe. A wand can tell a lot about you!
There are two primary types of wands available at Universal's Wizarding World, spanning Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure and the Diagon Alley at Universal Studios.
Interactive wands
In the first category we have the interactive wands, priced at $63.00 (with a few special editions set at $75 in 2023), which delivers a fully immersive experience. These wands come with a special optic sensor, which can interact with several items and props you can find at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
For example, you can move this wand and follow a set pattern in front of a fountain, making that fountain spill water. Yep, just like magic. You can find different spots where your interactive wand will work throughout the different Universal Orlando theme parks, and they all offer a different surprise!
The journey to buy your very own wand usually begins at Ollivander's, where a selected guest undergoes a wand choosing experience.
Non character specific wands tied to the Celtic tree calendar, allowing guests to select a wand based on their birthday or the one they just feel very connected to.
Character specific wands are modeled after those used in the Harry Potter series. The latter category includes replicas of wands used by characters like Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and even Voldemort.
Apart from Ollivander's locations, interactive wands are available at various spots, including the Wand Cart near Hogwarts in Hogsmeade and the Wands by Gregorovitch in Diagon Alley.
Bon-interactive wands
For those seeking display pieces that don't have a special optical sensor, Ollivander's offers replica wands at $55.
The influence of Wizarding World wands is evident in the evolution of theme park merchandise, notably impacting selections like Lightsabers at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
