Atlas Ocean Voyages Room & Dining Options

Welcome to our in-depth guide where we’ll talk about the different rooms and dining venues onboard Atlas Ocean Voyages ships.

This should be an easy guide to follow, considering that Atlas ships are almost identical to each other. This means that the room categories are the same across the fleet, and the restaurants are as well. Yes, the Main Dining Room name changes from ship to ship, but in essence, they’re the same. So, if you’ve been on one Atlas ship, the experience onboard will be very similar on the others. You can also treat this as a specialized guide for any of their three ships if you wish!

Room categories are the same across all three Atlas Ocean Voyages ships, and each ship offers exactly 100 staterooms. The staterooms are divided into three main categories:

  • Oceanview
  • Veranda
  • Suites

There is only one Oceanview stateroom category onboard Atlas Ocean Voyages, but there are several Veranda and Suite categories. Guests staying in suites enjoy extra perks, such as a private butler and complimentary laundry. Most of the cabins onboard Atlas are Veranda Staterooms. In fact, about 70% of the staterooms are Verandas, while only around 10% are Oceanview cabins.

Here is what you get in every Atlas Ocean Voyage stateroom:

  • In-room Nespresso coffee machine, stocked minibar and Vero Water
  • 24-hour room service including spirits, wine and beer
  • Private marble spa bathroom
  • Walk-in mosaic glass shower with rain head and body jets
  • Plush terry bathrobes and slippers
  • Queen bed with sumptuous Portuguese cotton linens by Lameirinho
  • Option to convert queen bed into two singles
  • Complimentary use of binoculars

For now, let’s check out all the stateroom categories.

Oceanview Staterooms

  • Good for: Guests who don’t plan to spend much time in their stateroom and prefer to use their cruise budget on excursions or other onboard perks instead of upgrading to a larger room.

Oceanview Staterooms are the entry-level cabins onboard Atlas Ocean Voyages. They are always located on Deck 3, measure 183 square feet, and have no subcategories. Each cabin features a small window that doesn’t open, offering a simple but pleasant view of the ocean and some natural light.

These rooms are straightforward in design, with a desk typically placed under the window (perfect for working) and a wall-mounted TV. The bathroom includes a glass-enclosed shower, and guests still enjoy nice amenities like an in-room Nespresso machine and 24-hour room service. All in all, this is a great option for travelers who prefer spending their time exploring the ship or joining excursions rather than staying in their room.

Veranda Staterooms

  • Good for: if you want a balcony and more space inside your stateroom; if you want a safe choice for a great room onboard Atlas.

There are four subcategories of Veranda Staterooms:

  • Veranda Stateroom
  • Horizon Stateroom
  • Veranda Deluxe Stateroom
  • Horizon Deluxe Stateroom

Both Veranda and Horizon Staterooms measure 300 square feet, are located on Decks 5 and 6, and come with a private balcony. What sets them apart is the type of balcony each stateroom offers.

The Veranda Stateroom features a traditional balcony where you can step outside, sit down, and enjoy a drink. The Horizon Stateroom, on the other hand, has a balcony design similar to the infinity verandas found on Celebrity Cruises. It’s essentially a floor-to-ceiling glass window that can be opened with the press of a button, creating a balcony-like experience from inside your room.

Some guests prefer the standard Veranda Stateroom, while others like the Horizon layout. The Horizon version gives you a bit more indoor space but doesn’t include an outdoor sitting area. Because of this, Horizon Staterooms have a couch in the sitting area, while Veranda Staterooms include armchairs instead.

The Deluxe versions of both Veranda and Horizon Staterooms measure 300 square feet but include upgraded layouts and small design touches. For example, the Veranda Deluxe Stateroom places the queen bed in a more private nook, adds a better living area with a couch, and offers a larger balcony. The Horizon Deluxe Stateroom features more space around the bed and a slightly larger balcony area.

Suites

  • Good for: Guests who want nothing but luxury; those who enjoy perks like a private butler or an expanded room service menu; anyone who plans to spend plenty of time relaxing in their room and enjoying the views.

There are three different types of suites onboard Atlas:

  • Journey Suites
  • Discovery Suites
  • Navigator Suites

Suites are the most luxurious accommodations onboard Atlas ships, with around 10 to 20 available on each vessel. They come with special perks like a private butler and an expanded room service menu. These rooms range from 382 to 465 square feet, which might not sound like much if you’re used to suites on larger cruise ships. However, keep in mind that these are yachts designed for fewer than 200 passengers, so considering that, these staterooms are quite spacious for the size of the ship.

The Journey Suite includes a private living room, a walk-in closet, and an expanded private balcony, measuring 382 square feet. The Discovery Suite offers the same amenities as the Journey Suite but is larger, measuring 445 square feet. Finally, the Navigator Suite is the most luxurious suite onboard, measuring 465 square feet, and features a larger bathroom with double sinks and a deep soaking tub.

Atlas Ocean Voyages Dining Options

Atlas Ocean Voyages offers a pretty good dining experience considering the size of its ships. Each of the three vessels has a main dining room, an outdoor grill, and two spots for snacks. Food quality is considered excellent, even if the variety is not quite as top notch as other luxurious cruise lines like Explora Journeys or Silversea. This makes sense since things need to be scaled back a bit, as the Atlas fleet is composed entirely of yachts.

Here are the dining options you will find on every Atlas Ocean Voyages cruise:

  • Main Dining Room: Every Atlas Ocean Voyages ship has a main dining room, and they are essentially the same, even if the name changes from ship to ship. For example, the one onboard World Navigator is called Porto, while the one onboard World Traveller is called Lisboa.
  • The Main Dining Room is where you can go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is usually open for about two hours in the morning, starting around 7:30 or 8am, while lunch typically begins at noon. Both breakfast and lunch are served buffet style inside the Main Dining Room. Dinner is à la carte and usually opens at 7pm. The Main Dining Room is always open seating, meaning that there are no assigned tables.
  • 7AFT Grill: This is a spot you will usually find on the warmer itineraries. It is basically a grill located next to the main pool, where you can enjoy a burger, a salad, or a quick sandwich. This venue also has a small outdoor buffet area with some of the same items you will find in the Main Dining Room. At night, the 7AFT Grill transforms into a premium steakhouse that is usually open from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.
  • Paula’s Pantry: This is the go-to spot for tea and coffee. It is usually open from 6am to 6 pm, making it a great option for a quick breakfast. You will find premium coffee, a variety of teas, juices, and some quick snacks as well like wraps and slices of pizza.
  • The Dome Observation Lounge: Afternoon tea is usually served here daily at 4pm. You can find coffee, tea, canapés, sweet treats, and more. It is a fun place to relax after a long day on an excursion or to socialize with other passengers.

Dietary Needs

For any special dietary needs, you can notify Atlas through the MyAtlas registration process or let Famvia handle it for you. You can also speak with the maître d’ once onboard if you have any questions or would like to check the ingredients of any menu items.

The Explorer’s Table

The Explorer’s Table is a new dining experience introduced by Atlas Ocean Voyages that is only available on select itineraries to Antarctica and the Arctic. It is a global culinary journey that takes place inside The Dome, featuring dishes from North America, Spain, Korea, France, and Argentina. The experience is limited to just 10 guests and takes place only once during each sailing. It costs $179 per passenger.

Bars

All Atlas Ocean Voyages ships have three bars: the Deck 7 Pool Bar, The Dome Bar, and the Atlas Lounge. While the bars share many of the same menu items, each one also offers its own signature cocktails.

Are all drinks free onboard Atlas Ocean Voyages?

No. While many premium wines, beers, and cocktails are included in your base fare, some special wines and cocktails may incur an extra charge. What is included is already very good, so you usually don’t need to pay more when it comes to drinks.

Is there any paid restaurant onboard Atlas Ocean Voyages?

No, there is no paid restaurant onboard Atlas Ocean Voyages. The only paid option related to food is the Explorer’s Table dining experience.

Is Room service free on Atlas Ocean Voyages?

Yes, room service is free for all staterooms on Atlas Ocean Voyages and is available 24 hours a day. Guests staying in suites also have access to an expanded menu.
