Atlas Ocean Voyages has three ships in their current fleet:

  • World Navigator (2021)
  • World Traveller (2022)
  • World Voyager (2023)

All three ships are extremely similar and are as small as luxurious yachts, each measuring 423 feet and offering 100 staterooms. The itineraries are also very similar, as all three ships visit Antarctica. They share the same dining venues and room categories, meaning each vessel has oceanview staterooms, veranda cabins, and suites. Our advice: prioritize prices and itineraries over choosing a specific ship, since the differences are minimal.

So, here is what all three ships have in common:

  • Length and number of staterooms
  • Dining venues
  • Stateroom Categories
  • Basically visit the same places
  • Activities (all have a running track, a main pool, a Spa and a fitness center)

Are there any differences between Atlas Ocean Voyages ships?

Although differences are minimal, a few things change from ship to ship. For example:

  • The year each ship launched.
  • The Main Dining Room is essentially the same on all three vessels, but it has a different name on each ship.
  • Discovery Suites can accommodate up to 2 guests on the World Navigator and World Voyager, and 3 guests on the World Traveller. The suite layout is the same across all three ships.
  • Interior style/decór

Atlas Ocean Voyages focuses heavily on Antarctica, the Arctic, and the Mediterranean. The cruise line usually offers fewer than 150 itineraries worldwide at any given time, and most of them take place in the polar regions.

Next, let’s look at all the destinations Atlas focuses on and the number of itineraries available for each. The numbers may change over time, but they help show what Atlas prioritizes.

  • Antarctica (popular; 53 itineraries)
  • Arctic (popular; 27 itineraries)
  • Mediterranean (popular; 38 itineraries)
  • Northern Europe (16 itineraries)
  • Caribbean (starting 2026; 1 itinerary)
  • South America (starting 2026, 2 itineraries)

Although Atlas Ocean Voyages is expanding its destinations and itineraries around the globe, its main focus remains on Antarctica and the Arctic. The cruise line began by offering polar expeditions, and its expertise in that area is hard to match if you want to visit some of the coldest places in the world.

These expeditions also take you closer than ever to wildlife and remote locations, thanks to the Zodiac boats that bring guests to shores and icy glaciers. Only the polar expeditions include the Explorer’s Table dining experience, which takes place once per sailing, is limited to 10 guests, and costs $179.

Experiences

Atlas calls its cruises “Experiences” because the itineraries are all about discovering each destination in depth. In other words, Atlas dives into the cultural, historical, and even philosophical aspects of every location, giving you much more than a standard cruise. For example, a Caribbean voyage is not just about getting a tan at the beach, as complimentary guides may take you on hikes, visits to sugar plantations, and rainforest explorations while discovering lesser known spots like St. Barts and Guadeloupe.

Their experiences are divided into three groups:

  • Polar Expeditions: take place in Antarctica and the Arctic, where ships equipped with Zodiacs - large inflatable boats - take you closer than ever to beaches and icy glaciers.
  • Epicurean Expeditions: mostly happen in Europe, where you will discover both the culinary and historic sides of each destination.
  • Cultural Expeditions: expected to grow significantly starting in 2026, focus on South America and the Caribbean. These cruises are all about exploring different cultures and communities while learning about historic sites, landmarks, and local folklore.

Polar Experiences & Itineraries Changes

Hey, we think it is important to give you a heads-up! There is a small chance that your itinerary might change at least once on cruises to Antarctica or the Arctic. That happens because the weather in these regions is unpredictable, and storms can appear out of nowhere. This may cause some ports of call to change and certain excursions to be canceled or delayed without prior notice.

Remember that Atlas operates small ships that are more like yachts, so they have a harder time handling huge waves compared to modern vessels that carry over 4,000 passengers.

The Top Destinations of Atlas Ocean Voyages

Antarctica

  • Starting Price: usually starts at $8,000 per guest.

You can’t talk about Atlas without mentioning Antarctica. The cruise line has a major presence in the region, with almost half of its itineraries focused there, and all three ships visiting the area. Most Antarctica cruises depart from Ushuaia, in southern Argentina. You can arrive in Buenos Aires and then take a free jet transfer to Ushuaia, where it is time to sail the Drake Passage and explore Antarctica. Some cruises also depart directly from Buenos Aires or King George Island. Cruise durations range from 7 to 18 days, with prices starting around $8,000 per guest and going up to about $23,000 for longer voyages.

The Arctic

  • Starting Price: usually starts at $6,000 per guest.

Ever wanted to see a polar bear? Atlas is also a big name in the Arctic, offering nearly thirty different itineraries that range from 6 to 17 days. Most cruises depart from Norway, with the most popular ones leaving from Longyearbyen, Oslo, and Reykjavik. Some of the longer voyages depart from Nuuk. Prices vary, starting at around $6,000 per guest for shorter weeklong cruises and going up to about $14,000 for those that last two weeks or more. These sailings are a great way to explore fjords and glaciers on shorter routes, while longer itineraries often cross the Greenland Sea and stop at different villages and cities.

The Mediterranean

  • Starting Price: usually starts at $4,100 per guest

Atlas is also big in the Mediterranean, with the World Traveller offering most of the itineraries in the region. These are some of the most affordable cruises you can find with Atlas and a great way to see if you will love the cruise line before trying some of their other destinations. Cruises depart from several locations, including Barcelona, Rome, Dubrovnik, Athens and Las Palmas. Keep in mind that these sailings focus on exploring small villages, local cuisine and historic landmarks.
