Disney Treasure has a new gem aboard!
The newest Disney fleet addition comes packed with tons of fun surprises and exciting experiences that will make everyone’s journey a unique one. But there is a special surprise that honors one of Disney Imagineer Legends, Rolly Crump. Let’s take a closer look at this great news.
The Haunted Mansion Parlor
As we mentioned at the start, Disney Treasure, one of the newest ships of Disney Cruise Line, has innovative experiences that promise a great journey for every passenger. One of them is The Haunted Mansion Parlor, offering a delightfully eerie surprise that's both thrilling and (kinda) not-so-spooky.
This is where we are going to find a sculpture inspired by the face of Roland Crump. Roland was well known by the nickname “Rolly”, given by the one and only Walt Disney. Rolly has been a cherished member of the company since its inception, working alongside Disney from the very beginning.
Huh, the Haunted Mansion?
You might be wondering, why honoring him at the Haunted Mansion? Well, the answer is simple. Roland "Rolly" Crump played a pivotal role in the original Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Resort, contributing brilliant ideas that continue to send shivers down visitors' spines at Disney World.
And now it will set sail aboard Disney Treasure as well, how great!
As you can notice, the sculpture appears to be "melting." This is because it is inspired by Rolly's original concept for a "Museum of the Weird" at the Haunted Mansion, where one of the special characters resembled a figure melting, akin to a candle. Thus, this sculpture pays homage to Rolly's imaginative vision and the inspirations behind it.
This can be considered a creative and out-of-the-box way to honor the incredible work and dazzling genius that Rolly owned. Our hearts are are melting for you, Rolly!
