Last year, in 2023, Walt Disney World rolled out the red carpet for the 100th anniversary celebration of the company and we couldn’t be more excited to do a recap of our favorite moments that this grand celebration brought us, and surely left a mark on all Disney visitors.
A never-ending party took over Disney Parks
Every Disney trip feels magical in its own way. However, last year surpassed this feeling with its many incredible Disney100 surprises that we got to see and experience in the different parks and resorts all over Disney World and Disneyland.
From Disney+ specials to limited edition merchandise, Disney gave it all to celebrate this important milestone for the company and all the fans accompanying it in its journey. But there were a few things that truly caught our attention, let's check them out!
Decoration
One thing Disney never disappoints is the clever decorations that can be found in every corner of the parks, especially when special occasions such as Halloween or Christmas Season are coming over.
However, for Disney100, decor items were even more over the top. Being able to make a statement all year long in the most iconic landmarks all over their parks is something to be proud of. For example, the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Dineyland kept shining with platinum buntings, the Disney100 logo in the shape of a shield plus the three Good Fairies were there sprinkling out some magic near the front doors.
Special Edition Statues
In every corner of Disneyland Resort, visitors could find the platinum 100th-anniversary statues and medallions which were first displayed on the date of the celebration at the resort. Our favorite one was the Minnie Mouse statue, which was surrounded by beautiful flowers.
Speaking of iconic statues, who didn’t take a photo for the family album at EPCOT’s Platinum Mickey? This spot was perfect to commemorate this important celebration, especially with the iconic phrase “...it was all started by a mouse, " displayed right below Mickey’s figure. How much history and magic do those few words contain, right?
Characters
Oh, Mickey and his gang truly created so many magical moments for so many, from the little ones to the young by heart. All of them were dressed up in their platinum festive attires and went around Disney World saying hi to their new friends.
Many of you even took the photo opportunity with Disney Photo Pass Character Click, which was located at two of our favorite resorts: Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort and Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Did you also get to enjoy this experience?
Shows and Events
We got to enjoy many of the special shows and events at the parks like Luminous: The Symphony of Us, which was a visual delight event that EPCOT hosted at the World Showcase Lagoon.
Also let's not forget the remarkable nighttime shows that Spaceship Earth at EPCOT offered. We loved it so much, you could never get bored in this magical place.
And so much more…
We cannot forget about the bling bling! We are talking about the collaboration between Disney and Swarovski for the shiny designs of the limited edition Minnie Ears, they are so lovely. Also, the many Disney100 merch specials that many of you got to purchase plus the food, ohh the delicious food that was launched for this special ocassion. Good times.
Certainly, 2023 was a year to remember for many reasons, but the Disney100 celebration was the cherry on the top at every single Disney visit that was made. Thank you Disney for the many incredible moments we got to experience. We cannot contain our excitement to see what this 2024 has in store for all of us.
