A fun show for Frozen fans that could use more songs

Let me tell you one thing straight up, my friend: it doesn’t matter the score we give here if you have children that love Frozen. We could have rated this a -2, but if your kids love singing Let it Go or if they are big fans of Anna and Elsa, then you should definitely bring them here. Then get ready to hear them say how Famvia was wrong and that Sing-Along Celebration is the greatest show in all Disney World. Hey, maybe they are right.

This Frozen ride with the huge name is very different from Epcot’s Frozen Ever After. While in Epcot you go on a traditional boat ride, this attraction in Hollywood Studios is a small scale show with a couple of actors on stage and a big screen that showcases scenes from the first movie. Two Arendelle “historians” act as hosts and comment on passages of the first movie which are shown on the main screen.

The big issue for me is that we're not getting a Broadway-style show or anything close to it. Instead, we've got these two hosts on stage who have nothing to do with Frozen. They're there to crack jokes and give us more backstory on the first movie. Then the movie scenes pop up on the big screen, and the hosts return to crack more jokes. It feels like it just goes on forever and gets really tiresome. Don’t get me wrong, the hosts do a pretty good job. They can be funny and really charismatic, and throw some jokes that only adults will understand, but I wish that we got more Frozen-related stuff instead of that.

Some Frozen characters do join the show, like Hans and Anna, but they are more like supporting actors. 90% of this attraction involves the narrators talking about the movie and throwing jokes at each other. For something called a “Sing-Along Celebration”, this show also lacks a lot of singing… and also a lot of songs from the movies.

Elsa does appear near the end to sing Let it Go, but that’s about it. She is in her traditional costume next to Anna and the two hosts, but I do think that it lacks charm. The stage doesn’t have anything that resembles Frozen, only the big screen in the background with Arendelle. There are a few visual effects like smoke and artificial snow falling from the ceiling, but it doesn't quite capture the Frozen magic.

I really wish that this show was more like Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage. Can you imagine a big Frozen show with top notch costume design, several actors performing live and tons of cool songs? Frozen certainly does not lack good songs and fan favorites like “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman” and “For the First Time in Forever”. It doesn’t need hosts that have nothing to do with the story cracking jokes every two seconds.

Will Kids enjoy it?

That is easy to answer. Do your kids like Frozen? Then they will love this show. Do your kids not care about Frozen? Then they will not like this show. Parents might get a little bit bored since the musical numbers aren’t as spectacular as in other Disney shows. However, if you have little kids or children that love Frozen, bring them here. They will love to see their favorite characters singing some of their favorite songs and watching moments from the movie on the big screen. Again.
