Peter Pan's Flight Review

Are you ready to wait a long time in line to see Neverland?

Before anything else, my friends, let’s talk about the elephant in the room.

Yes, Peter Pan’s Flight has massive wait times. We are talking about something like 70 minutes during most part of the day, and all of that to see a very traditional dark ride. So, what makes this ride have such huge wait times, making it almost as popular as something like Seven Dwarfs Mine train? Is Peter Pan the next evolution of dark rides? Does it feature amazing and ultra realistic animatronics that would make Skynet jealous? Or maybe you actually get to visit the real Neverland for a few minutes?

The answer is a bit less exciting than that. Peter Pan’s Flight is quite crowded due to its limited capacity. While Pirates of the Caribbean can accommodate around 3000 guests per hour, Peter Pan’s Flight only manages about 800. There you have it, folks. One of the biggest mysteries in the world revealed before your very eyes.

The Good

But does the ride still deliver fun despite the long waits? Yep! It's a fun experience, especially for kids. Peter Pan’s Flight isn't vastly different from other dark rides in Magic Kingdom like Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. One neat feature is that your vehicle resembles a pirate ship, and you are actually suspended in the air. Relax, your ride is never too high off the ground, which is great for anyone afraid of heights.

This rail-suspended dark ride will take you across various locations from the classic story during your three minute tour. You will see London, The Lost Boys camp, the Mermaid Lagoon, Captain Hook fighting Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinker Bell. It’s a treat for fans of Peter Pan and also forfor fans of classic theme parks. This ride just breathes nostalgia, and brings you to a time when theme parks were simple and you just wanted to enjoy a classic fairy tale. It’s also one of the original rides in Magic Kingdom, debuting only two days after the park opened its doors in 1971.

The Bad

Of course, to see all that, you will need to fight a long line. As we stated before, it’s pretty uncommon to see Peter Pan’s Flight with a wait time under 60-70 minutes. This gave this attraction sort of a meme reputation, which makes me laugh.

When you Google Peter Pan’s Flight you will often come across guests saying “why is Peter Pan’s Flight so crowded always!?” and “Should my first Disney Genie+ be for Peter Pan’s Flight?”. Well, let us answer that second question as well. Yes, if you have young children in your party, it’s a good idea to snag a Disney Genie+ for it first thing in the morning.

Will Kids enjoy it?

Small children and toddlers will love it. As we said, Peter Pan’s Flight is pretty colorful, and the sensation of being suspended in the air makes it feel like you're soaring over London and Neverland. The only downside is that your kids (and *cough* adults *cough*) will require a lot of patience to endure the long wait times in line. That’s why it’s so important to get a Disney Genie+ as early as possible for this ride in particular.

Teenagers will probably think that Peter Pan’s Flight is rather boring, and that a Disney Genie+ is better spent elsewhere. It’s even worse if they have to stay in line for 70 minutes only to enjoy an attraction that lasts 3 minutes.
