This is a very good boy

We are glad to announce that Hollywood Studios has a roller coaster based on Toy Story’s best character! Forget about Woody or Buzz Lightyear, of course we are talking about Slinky Dog. I mean, just look at this good boy, isn’t he cute?

Slinky Dog Dash serves as an excellent introduction for young guests transitioning from junior roller coasters to more intense rides like Universal's Islands of Adventure's VelociCoaster or Hollywood Studios' Rock N' Roller Coaster. While it doesn't feature steep drops or massive twists, it offers enjoyable turns and helixes suitable for the whole family. One particularly fun section has Slinky Dog moving in a straight line, bouncing up and down three to four times, providing a brief moment of airtime. C’mon, everyone loves airtime on a roller coaster!

This is also a launched roller coaster, which might be the first time your kids experience something like that. Of course that the launch system isn’t as fast as the big guys like Tron Lightcycle Run or the VelociCoaster, but it’s still fun and will offer the little ones something new. Even the parents will enjoy it, trust me.

Slinky Dog is, above all, very charming. The track layout is great and, running at two minutes, it’s an acceptable time for a family coaster. The best part is probably when your vehicle comes to a full stop, right in front of several arches with the words “go” written on them, which seem to simulate a race track. It builds excitement for the little ones and our cute doggo prepares to launch a second time, and then it enters the section which gives you some airtime.

Despite its charming portrayal of Andy’s Backyard, complete with oversized blocks featuring Woody and Buzz, it's surprising that the queue for Slinky Dog Dash is rather… plain. Much of the queue is situated outdoors, lacking any sort of intricate details. It primarily consists of a long line to accommodate guests until they reach the ride vehicle and that’s it. This becomes particularly problematic during the summer months when temperatures soar, and guests find themselves enduring a two-hour wait in the sweltering heat.

Oh yeah, speaking of queues, let me tell you that Slinky Dog is really, really popular. In fact, it might be the most popular ride in all Hollywood Studios, beating Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Queue times for Slinky Dog are almost always at two hours. If you plan on getting a Disney Genie+ for Slinky Dog, make sure to log in on the My Disney Experience App as soon as possible and hit that refresh button, since passes for this family coaster sell out in seconds. I’m not even joking.

So, that’s what we have to say about Slinky Dog. Great family coaster, terrible wait times. Should you come here? Absolutely. Should you be extra patient while coming here? Absolutely.

Will Kids enjoy it?

This is probably the best ride for kids in Disney World. Slinky Dog Dash is a family coaster, which means that it’s for… everyone! Adults have a lot of fun here, but kids have a blast. This is a perfect entry point for younglings above four years old, just to see if they will love roller coasters in the future.

Slinky Dog isn’t as chill as something like The Barnstormer in Magic Kingdom or Flight of the Hippogriff in Islands of Adventure, but it isn’t as tense as Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom or even the famous Space Mountain. It’s also a relatively new roller coaster, with a modern layout which features two launches and even gives the little ones some airtime. It’s pretty good.
