Traveling to one of the happiest places in Asia
Did you know that Hong Kong Disneyland is located on Lantau Island? This is exactly at the heart of the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and it is recognized as the second-largest Disneyland in Asia!
A trip to Hong Kong Disneyland promises a different kind of experience, even if you have visited another Disneyland in the past, and that's no easy feat. Conveniently located not far from central Hong Kong, this theme park offers a perfect day out for visitors of all ages. Although it's the second largest in Asia, it is still one of the smallest Disney parks globally, but it’s worth the visit. I mean, if you are already in Hong Kong, you should say hi to Mickey there!
The Hong Kong government temporarily closed the park during the pandemic, but reopened its gates in April 2022, so why don’t we take a look at what you can do there?
The Attractions and Experiences
Hong Kong Disneyland Castle of Magical Dreams
Renovated and unveiled in 2020, this majestic castle celebrates a pantheon of Disney princesses. It embodies the essence of wishes and dreams that Disney taught us through the years. There are several towers adorning this castle, with each tower celebrating a Disney Princess, from Jasmine to Tiana, Elsa and Anna. We have to say that this is one of the most beautiful and original castles in all Disney.
Must-Experience Rides
You'll encounter Mystic Manor there, one of the most renowned rides, which includes mildly frightening moments for some younger guests or those wary of the dark. After all, it's inspired by the classic Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom.
Looking for a thrilling experience? The Toy Soldier Parachute Drop is perfect. Plummeting from a great height, you'll feel a rush of emotions in your stomach. Ready to give it a try? Well, don't do this right after lunch.
Themed Magic Lands
You can explore Main Street USA, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Toy Story Land, Grizzly Gulch, and Mystic Point, each one deserves a visit! As you have probably noticed, this is a nice mix of what Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios offer in Walt Disney World, with a different twist.
Where to stay?
You can choose from three Disneyland Hotels: the Disney Explorers Lodge, Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, and Disney Hollywood Hotel. Each of these hotels offer unique experiences and benefits, including priority admission passes and character dining options.
The main difference you might find is that the culinary adventure will include dining options where the protagonist will be... the Asian cuisine! You can head to the Explorer's Club Restaurant's Asian or the Crystal Lotus Restaurant's character-shaped dim sum, but if Asian food is not your thing, you can always have the traditional American food in different restaurants. Hey, cheeseburgers are great in any part of the world, don't judge me.
How Long Should You Stay?
Okay, one day allows you to have a glimpse of the magic, but we consider a two-day pass will give you a great experience overall. You can also re-ride your favorite attractions on the second day, and you will have a better idea of the park layout.
The Peak Seasons are between December and January so, for a pleasant visit, you can go there in November and April. It's also the best weather with fewer crowds. Win-win!
Have you ever been to Disneyland Hong Kong? Well, did you enjoy it? Share your experiences with us! If you have never been there, that is fine too. We can plan your trip to Asia and help you out. Until the next one!
