Oh! The Stories You'll Hear! Review

Yes, it’s time to hear about the review for this street show in Seuss Landing

I miss the street shows at Disney and Universal. They used to be quite popular, but I think we’ve seen fewer of them in the last couple of years. Maybe COVID had something to do with that, but now we mostly get parades and quick performances that don’t last long. Thankfully, Seuss Landing has gone against the tide and still maintains a very charming show that is great for young children and brings a smile to adults from all over the world.

As expected, The Stories You’ll Hear uses characters from Dr. Seuss books to tell charming stories to the audience. It takes place either inside Circus McGurkus or in the middle of the street between the Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous quick-service restaurant and the All the Books You Can Read store. You can sit down anywhere and enjoy a cute musical for about nine minutes, with the chance to take pictures with your favorite characters once it's over.

The Good

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this show is how close and personal it feels. It takes place in the middle of the street, not on a huge stage where you're seated far away from your favorite characters. Everything feels more intimate, as if the performance is exclusive to a Dr. Seuss fan club. In fact, even Thing 1 and Thing 2 sometimes sit down among the guests. This show also features The Cat in the Hat, Sam-I-Am, the Lorax, and sometimes even the Grinch.

I also have to tip my hat to the cast members who guide the entire presentation. The Stories You’ll Hear is all about characters from Dr. Seuss, but it’s the regular cast members who narrate the story and sing, while the costumed characters dance, wave to guests, and more. Every cast member shows a great amount of energy, interacting with children and smiling every time you look at them.

So, what’s this show about? The cast member simply holds a book and tells one of the Dr. Seuss stories, while the costumed characters interact with what’s happening. They might dance, wave, or perform simple actions related to the story. There is also music in the background, which adds a nice touch and a bit of charm.

It’s no surprise that this show is mostly for toddlers, young children, and people who grew up with Dr. Seuss. Above all, this is a very simple show. Don’t expect crazy visual effects, amazing music set pieces, or The Cat in the Hat doing a somersault. Maybe that’s all for the better. Sometimes we just want something simple and chill, and there is nothing wrong with someone telling us a story and letting our minds travel to faraway places.

You know what’s also cool? You can take pictures with the characters once the show is over! They will all be there for you to fill your album with new memories. The Grinch also makes an appearance from time to time, especially close to Christmas, so keep an eye out for him.

Will Kids enjoy it?

Toddlers and young children will probably enjoy this show. With its musical numbers and multiple characters in costume, there's a good chance they'll love watching those colorful, quirky characters moving around. Remember that parents can also bring their little ones to take pictures once the performance is over, which is a plus.

Older kids and teenagers will probably find this show rather boring. There aren’t any acrobatic set pieces or crazy visual effects, so it might not hold their attention for long.
