Mad Tea Party Review

Do watch grandpa when he steps out of the cup

Ah, the tea cup rides! It's a classic at theme parks and carnivals. You just sit down, spin around for a minute or two, and you can tell you're getting old if you end up with a headache.

Magic Kingdom is home to roller coasters, carousels and tons of classic dark rides, so of course a tea cup ride wouldn’t miss the party. This one is based on Alice in Wonderland and is featured in several Disney parks across the world. You know how it goes: hop into a teacup-shaped vehicle with up to four guests and enjoy the ride while a catchy song from Alice plays in the background.

If you want an extra dose of spin, each vehicle has a wheel in the center which you can turn and makes your vehicle spin even faster, similar to Islands of Adventure’s Storm Force Accelatron. Kids love it. Adults not so much. When I visited in 2022, I experienced a slight headache for the first time upon exiting the ride. My cousin, thinking he was in a gym or something, couldn't resist playing with the wheel nonstop. Ah, nearing my 40s isn't all that fun.

The Good

This ride evokes the same nostalgic vibe as Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Each teacup is beautifully crafted, making it a joy to hop on and enjoy this classic ride with your little ones or that special date you decided to bring to Magic Kingdom. It's one of those experiences where it's not about being good or bad. You know exactly what you're in for once you join the queue.

Some folks do start feeling a bit queasy here, and I'm not kidding when I say spinning too much can make you dizzy pretty fast. Of course, if you jump into a teacup and don't touch the wheel at all, you'll likely have a good time just spinning around on the vehicle's turntable. Relax, your teacup doesn’t move very fast. Your kids, however, will jump on that wheel and start spinning it as fast as they can, I guarantee it. As a parent, just sit back, relax and force a smile. It will alllll be over soon.

Do I recommend this ride? Yeah, sure. If you have small children with you and toddlers, you should definitely come here, and the same applies to kid-friendly rides like Prince Charming Regal Carrousel and The Barnstormer. The wait time is never that long, which definitely makes it a plus.

Will Kids enjoy it?

Yep! Kids between the ages of 3 and 8 love this ride, often wanting to test how fast they can spin their vehicle. They start giggling and chuckling as soon as the ride starts, which will probably melt your heart.

Queue times are typically short, usually around 10 to 20 minutes, and the ride duration of 90 seconds is just right for this kind of experience. Teenagers, however, might find it a bit dull and prefer something slightly more thrilling.
